346. Mushroom Gravy Ham Steak & Home Fries. Click the picture for recipe!

A tender sweet and savory ham steak with a delicious mushroom gravy and a side of crispy and moist potatoes.

Ingredients

Directions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Drizzle a baking dish with olive oil and place it in the oven for a few minutes to get the oil hot.
  2. Bake your ham steak for about 20 minutes depending on the size. 20 minutes per pound.
  3. Pour some vegetable oil up in a pot about a inch and a half. Heat on medium high heat. When your oil is hot deep fry your diced potatoes for about 8 minutes occasionally turning. Take your potatoes out and set aside on paper towels for about 8 minutes to soak up the excess oil. This cooks the inside of the potatoes.
  4. Place your potatoes back in the oil and deep fry again for about 7 minutes (this crisps up the outside). Take your potatoes out and set aside on paper towels to soak up the excess oil.
  5. Heat a pan on medium high heat and add lots of butter. Toss in your sliced mushrooms and diced onions. Season with salt and pepper and cook for about 8 minutes occasionally turning.
  6. Add more butter to the pan, as it melts whisk in some flour to create a mushroom and onion roux. Pour in some chicken stock and continue to whisk until your sauce reaches a nice consistency.
  7. Plate your ham steak and home fries, pour on your mushroom gravy, garnish your ham steak with your chopped chives, garnish your home fries with your chopped parsley. Enjoy! #recipesbyvance
